Webinar: Health Benefits Under COBRA: What You Need to Know

Please join the Kansas City Chapter of ISCEBS on November 21st for the webinar: "Health Benefits Under COBRA: What You Need to Know". Our speaker is Christyona Pham a Senior Benefits Advisor Outreach Coordinator of the U.S. Department of Labor: Office of Outreach, Education, and Assistance Employee Benefits Security Administration.

The presentation will provide a general understanding of COBRA regulations and rules. There will be an emphasis on key responsibilities employers need to fulfill, including the different notice and eligibility requirements, providing proper documentation, and managing the ongoing administration of COBRA coverage. We will also address common pitfalls and challenges faced by employers, such as compliance issues with other federal laws, administering appropriate notices, and ensuring timely communication with beneficiaries.

Christyona Pham serves as a Senior Benefits Advisor for the U.S. Department of Labor, Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA).  Ms. Pham also serves as the Outreach Coordinator for EBSA’s Kansas City Regional Office. Ms. Pham has been part of EBSA's Office of Outreach, Education, and Assistance (OEA) since August 2016.  OEA administers the Participant and Compliance Outreach, Education and Assistance Program. One aspect of the program is providing participant and compliance assistance directly to the public by answering inquiries and complaints received by phone, mail, electronically or in person. 

Prior to starting as a Benefits Advisor, Ms. Pham was a student intern for EBSA from November 2015 to May 2015.  Ms. Pham obtained her B.A. in Psychology at the University of Missouri in 2012 and her J.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 2016.
